Hartford earned the top spot for February 2025 after seeing a jump in interest from buyers looking to move there, Realtor.com reported. The site credited the historic city's strong job market and high-quality schools as key factors driving the renewed demand.
The median price for a Hartford home hit $434,000 in February, rising 6.6 percent compared to last year, Realtor.com reported. Despite higher prices, listings in the city attracted up to four times the national average in property views and sold in just 38 days on average.
That's twice as fast as the national average, the report found.
Manchester, New Hampshire, January’s top housing market, slipped to No. 2. Kenosha, Wisconsin; Rockford, Illinois; and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, rounded out the top five.
Other hot Northeastern markets included Bridgeport, Waterbury, and Norwich in Connecticut, along with Worcester and Springfield in Massachusetts.
Hartford has ranked among the nation’s 10 most sought-after markets for months and previously claimed the No. 1 spot in June 2023. Since June 2017, the city has now taken the top honor four times, the site said.
